Subject: RE: car break-in/purse stolen

Neighbors,
I want to let you know yesterday morning at 4:05 am someone shattered my brother's SUV. When the alarm went off the thief run back to his vehicle and sped off. My brother said it was a white SUV but he is not sure if it was a chevi or a ford. I have been asking for ever to hire a security guard and now more than ever I wish something can be done to stop these mal adapted people. I am considering installing some cameras around my house and hopefully this will stop them from coming to my property.

Subject: car break-in/purse stolen

Just wanted to let everyone know between 12pm-1pm today, my purse was stolen out of my car. My car was parked in my garage & the doors were unlocked. Our wonderful neighbor Paul's security camera recorded the incident. According to the video, a white male, looking to be in his late 30s to early 40s, pulled his light colored (maybe white ?), two door Toyota (with sunroof, spoiler & tire rims) around our circle/cul-de-sac & parked in front of our house on the corner, casually walked into our garage, grabbed my purse & casually walked back & got into his car. Because of the angle of the camera, it was unable to record a license plate number. The video also showed a car coming into the neighborhood that passed this car. If there is anyone in the neighborhood who drives a silver, convertible car (can't remember the make/model) that might have noticed this person,  please contact me (Tracy 310-2108).

My husband arrived home at 12:00pm & the video showed this "man" arriving @ 12:14 or 15pm.  Our family has been diligent about locking doors & leaving the garage door closed, but today was a fluke.  My husband thought he was coming home to pick me up for lunch. It happened within minutes. I will keep everyone posted on what happens. I'm calling the detective in the morning to report the latest video & to give him/her a license plate number of a car that meets this description that I received from another neighbor. Unfortunately, since this person was in a car, I will not be able to find my belongings in the woods around our house.  Not that I didn't take this seriously before, but I have never had anything like this happen to me & I feel totally violated & worried about my family's safety. However, I do feel confident that our neighborhood and the adjoining neighborhoods are coming together to try & catch these awful people.

Please watch out for each other,

Tracy Ellis

Subject: Re: Fw: Grand Colony Concern

 Kent,

My sister and brother-in-law live in the first house on the left in Grand Colony subdivision.  For several months now, they have been seeing a tan Camary driven by a women who acts very suspicious when she is spotted.  They have tried to get her license plate number but she always manages to avoid getting caught by doing such things as driving into our subdivision and backing into a driveway and turning off her headlights.  There have been car break-ins in Grand Colony recently and, as you can see from the emails below, the neighbors are concerned.  My brother-in-law contacted the Knox County Sheriff's Office this morning and asked for them to put our subdivisions on a watch list.

Please let our neighbors in Teague's Grove know about the incident last night in Grand Colony and ask them to be on the lookout for a tan Camary.

 Thanks,

Lois Chrisman

On Sun, Jan 13, 2013 at 1:46 PM:

In light of the problem that happened in the subdivision this morning, I
have contacted Knox County Sheriff Office this morning.  They have put our
Subdivision and Teagues Grove on a watch list for two weeks.  Basically,
officers will drive though our neighborhood when they are not on a call.
They will investigate any unusual activity.  We can call back and have the
subdivision added back on the list in two weeks if needed.

I have seen the older model Camry (tan) with the women in our subdivision
within the last two weeks.  The detective I spoke with today told me to
call 215-2444 if I see her and they will have an officer in the area
investigate.

I spoke with my sister who lives in Teague Grove and she said she had
gotten an email that said four homes in Berkley Subdivision had their back
doors kicked in last week.

Please continue to be alert and be safe.  We have a great neighborhood and
need to be proactive in keeping it that way.

Thanks Friends,

Doris and Rick

From Grand Colony:

Good Evening Neighbors.

I am currently working on a Grand Colony Facebook page and will try to complete after the holidays.  I have also contacted the neighborhood watch program and will work toward getting information to share with all of you to see if this would be beneficial for us.

I again encountered the Tan Camry in our neighborhood and Teague's Grove.  This was Friday before last.  I followed her and she put a piece of paper into a mailbox in Teague's Grove.  I begin to wonder if she was truly delivery flyers but the mailbox she put the flyer in was my sisters.  I call her when I got to work and she went to the mailbox to find no flyer or paper at all.

Anyway, still suspicious of what she is up to.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas.

 Doris

Early this morning around 4:45am, we were awakened to a car door shutting and immediately looked out the window.  We saw a sedan sitting in front of the Temple's (5th house on right) driveway. We then saw 2 people, at least 1 was female, walking down the street from the cul-de-sac towards Pedigo.  One person, the female, walked through our yard and knocked on our door.  Our dogs were hysterical by this point.  By the time Kevin got downstairs, I saw 2 people sprinting down the street towards their car, which was now backed into the Clausen's driveway (2nd house on left).  They jumped into the car and drove off into Teague's Grove, turned around in the first driveway and then got back on Pedigo, heading towards Emory Rd. Unfortunately, we were unable to see a license plate but wanted to get the word out. We are not aware of any damage to our property.

Kent, my care was ram-sacked also Christmas eve I dont believe anything was taken but it was strange.

From Berkley Estates:

There was an incident I found out about that happened December 24th:

One of the house incidents in Berkley Estates involved the back door being kicked in, ransacking the upstairs, gathering up all electronics in a pile ready to take but the owner came home and they ran out the backdoor.   I have been told they will sometimes knock on the front door and if no one answers, they will kick in the back door.

My mom and dad had their van looked through and a couple of gifts taken on Christmas Eve. It was parked in our driveway.  Wanted everyone to be aware.

I intentionally left my garage door open last night (with the lights on) between 10:00 and 11:30 to allow my son to come directly in upon his arrival.  During that time, both of our cars got ram-sacked.  Fortunately, only some loose car change was taken.  There were some other items of value NOT taken---for some strange reason.

My sister's car was also broken into that night.  Same story... her car was left unlocked.  They rummaged through her glove compartment as well as console but decided not to take her make up. :)  We are assuming it happened sometime between 12am-5am.

Sorry for the delay.

On Tuesday night, my husband's car was broken into.  There was no obvious forced entry, so I am not sure if the car was left unlocked or if they used something to get into the car.  They stole his wallet out of his car.  I just wanted to make you aware.  Sorry for the delay in sending the email.

just wanted to let everyone know that we had car break in. They only stole a gas card. They left money, tools, etc. Just wanted to alert the neighborhood that we still have prowlers coming and going.

They got into all three of our cars.  Luckily they didn’t get my sunglasses!  I left them in the kitchen, duh!  They didn’t get anything as far as I know.  I did file a police report just tout something on record.

 Kent,

I wanted to let you know that my truck was broken into sometime last night.  I evidently left it unlocked, which i never do, and when I got in it this morning to go to work, the glove box was open and also the console with a bunch of receipts and papers laying in my passenger side seat.  It doesn't look like they took anything since there was nothing of any value in there to take but I wanted to let you know.

We live at 1360 Wineberry and had our truck broken into as well....my husband's wallet was in the truck (which he never leaves in there), however, he was able to recover all items as they threw its contents out going down the road.  Did anyone file a police report?  We did not, as it seems we were able to recover everything.

Folks,

We have had some car break ins last night.  I have had reports of 3 car robberies that happened around 4:30 am.  One incident included a rock being thrown into a car window. Another incident included the garage door being opened due an opener left in the car.

Please, please lock your car when you exit it and don’t leave your garage door opener in a vehicle that is parked outside.

If you see/hear anything suspicious outside your house, please check it out and call the police and let me know as well.

Let me know of anything else that happens.

Thank you,

May 9, 2009 - Report from several neighbors:

5 houses got hit with car thefts.  Vehicles were parked outside and some were left unlocked.  One vehicle had a rock thrown through the window.  Another had their garage door opener left if the car and opened their garage door.  Several items taken.  Report of 2 white males walking through neighborhood around 4:30 am.

June 2 - 2009 -   Report from a neighbor:

I just wanted to get the word out that our dog’s electric collar was, I am assuming, stolen this pass Sunday between 6:30-8:00PM.  Robert talked to the neighbors and they said they saw a young unknown male in our yard within that time frame.  Our black dog, Buddy, had his collar on when our daughter left and was gone when we returned.  The collar clicks on and does not readily come off even when the dogs wrestle.  A further search of the yard did not yield the collar.

I like to think that we live in a fairly “safe” subdivision so I let the dogs out in the yard with their collars and this has not been an issue in the close to 6 years that we have lived in Teagues Grove.  I will continue to believe that the subdivision is safe and that this is a rare incident.  I would like to just remind everyone to stay aware and alert and to help keep our subdivision a safe place to raise our kids and pets.

 Thanks!

October 19 - 2008 -   Report from a neighbor:

"I have witnessed several unsafe driving issues that I would like to make you aware of. There is a teenager who lives in the neighborhood and drives a silver car with Illinois license plate and parks on the street in front of the house. I have witnessed him peeling out of the driveway and flooring his vehicle down Cider to the stop sign however not stopping, making the turn on two wheels and then flooring it again to the end of the subdivision and coming to a screeching halt at the entrance to let his brother and sister off at the bus stop. Yes, there were other kids at the bus stop as well. Hence my concern. I have witnessed the unsafe driving and excessive speed on many occasions both in and out of our subdivision.

There are alot of small children in our subdivision and he apparently has no regard for any of them.

It is frightening to witness this and to think what might be the outcome."
Email October 15, 2008 -

We need to address speeding in our neighborhood.

We have had several complaints of people speeding on the long stretch of Wineberry and the hill on Cider Lane.
The complainants have said the people speeding are people that live in our neighborhood.

Just a reminder, the speed limit is 25 mph.

I have noticed that if you don't ride your brakes going down Cider Lane, you could very possibly be going faster that 25 mph.

Also there have been several complaints of 1 vehicle in particular (teal in color) speeding up and down Wineberry.  There was almost a serious accident with a pedestrian and this vehicle.

If you see people walking or playing on the road or vehicles parked on the road, please slow down!!

Please - let's keep our speed down to 25 mph or below!!

Thank you,

August 15 - 2007 - Reported to police a suspicious girl on bicycle today around 3:30 going through mailboxes and approaching houses.  I saw her at my mailbox and she left when I pulled up in my car.  I approached her at a neighbor's home and asked why she was at my mailbox.  She did not seem to speak very good English & spoke with a Spanish accent. She had a notebook saying she was selling children's books.  She was riding a purple bicycle with a basket on the front and had on a red t-shirt, brown shorts and wearing a ball cap.  She looked to be early twenties. She just acted like she was busy looking at her papers, then got on her bicycle and left.  UPS had just delivered a package to us right before she pulled up as well, but my husband came out to get it and also saw her at our mailbox.   UPS had also just been parked in front of the neighbor's home also.

We watched her as she left and she went down the street some and saw us watching her, she parked her bike and walked up toward another home, but never went to the door.   She then got back on her bike and headed down the hill toward Pedigo.  We called the police & asked them to come and check for her.  My husband then got in the car and drove down Wineberry and she was gone from the neighborhood.

We need to keep our eyes open - I will let the neighbor that I mentioned know what happened.

August 1, 2007 - A neighborhood reported that she saw a girl in a green Ford Explorer going through homeowners' garbage bins on Friday morning.  Please shred any important papers before disposing of them.

March 21, 2007 - A neighbor reported that a friend who lives in Broad Acres witnessed a man in a RED PICKUP TRUCK was driving slow through their neighborhood.  There was an ice cream truck with some kids on one side.  The red truck pulled up on the other side who tried to ask some of the kids for directions.  An adult witnessed this and ran toward the kids and red truck screaming to get their attention.  The red truck sped away very quickly.  BE CAREFUL with your kids playing outside as this maybe an abductor.

March 16, 2007 - Another neighbor reported their mail was sifted through and opened. Looks like our mail theft girl might be back.  Please be careful and get your mail as soon as you can.

July 8, 2006 - Pool Incident - A neighbor and a friend of his (former policeman) were at the pool and reported seeing a late 90's Honda Civic (silver) parked in the parking lot with two boys (early 20's).  Our neighbor asked what the people in the Civic were doing.  The two boys said they were waiting for someone.  After a while, a early 2000's Mitsubishi Eclipse (silver) came racing from Pedigo Road to the pool and parked about 1 foot away from the Civic.  They exchanged some things back and forth and then the Civic drove away.  A girl from the Eclipse got out yelled using very loud profanity said "I better get the rest of my money!"   The former policeman thought this sounded like a drug deal.

THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE.

Let's watch very closely for: 1) late 90's Honda Civic (silver) and 2) early 2000's Mitsubishi Eclipse (silver).

May 2, 2006 - Our mail theft girl maybe back.

Just got a report from a neighbor that her mailbox was open and it looked like her mail had been gone through two days in a row.  If you see a dark green or black 1998 Nissan Altima with a girl with blonde hair driving slow through the neighborhood and/or going through peoples' mailboxes, CALL THE POLICE.
The USPS Inspection Service has been put on alert.

I would HIGHLY recommend:
1) get your mail as soon as the mail lady comes and
2) any personal that would include credit card numbers, checks or anything of that sort be forwarded to a P.O. Box.

April 23, 2006 - We had a report from a neighbor about some possible vandalism to their basketball goal.  Here is the copied message:  "About 3 weeks ago someone either tried to steal our basketball goal and weren’t successful or just wanted to vandalize it.  There is an anchor thing that has to be pushed down in the ground to keep the goal from turning over.  It had been pulled up and the goal must have turned over and hit the driveway.  The rim was bent and scratched.  The net was torn, but it looks like someone might have burned it with a lighter or something."    Please be on the watch for any suspicious people driving slow or walking through the subdivision late at night particularly if you are up past midnight.

April 23, 2006 - We have had some obscene graffiti painted on the street in the front of the subdivision.  Thanks to the neighbors who helped clean/pressure wash it off.  Once again, please be on the watch for any suspicious people driving slow or walking through the subdivision late at night particularly if you are up past midnight.

Update - April 7, 2006 - If you received a letter from the Post Office today stating that any of your mail was stolen, call any credit card companies that you have cards with and see if any convenience checks have tried to go through without your authorization and stop payment on them ASAP.  You might call anyone else you might be expecting checks (or any other important mail) that you have not received yet.

Also call me (765-0529)/email me and I will put you in touch with the Postal Inspectors to recover any stolen mail.

A neighbor had a credit card convenience check stolen and she called her credit card company.  They said one of her checks was trying to go through for SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS!

Let me know of anything that happens so I can pass it on.  -Kent Baker

Update - April 5, 2006 - Good News!! I reported the incidents to the U.S. Postal Inspectors.  The girl WAS ARRESTED!  They told me that they have been trying to catch her for a while.  She has hit many other subdivisions in both Powell and in west Knoxville.  She has stolen checks out of mailboxes worth over $5,000!!  They found about 40 pieces of mail in her car including a check to a homeowner that lives on Cider Lane.  If you are missing a check, call me at 765-0529 and I will get you in touch with the U.S. Postal Inspectors.

That is good news and not so good news.  The Postal Inspectors said she will probably get out soon because the threshold is quite a bit more for her to go to the federal authorities.

They suggested to NOT EVER put ANY outgoing mail in your mailbox.  If you have to put outgoing mail in your box, don't EVER put the flag up.  If you prop up your piece of mail, the mail carrier will see it.

She drives a 1998 Nissan Maxima (dark green color).  As described below, she is about 19-21 and has blonde hair and is average height and size.

PLEASE report any incidents to me by email or phone at 765-0529 so we can put her behind bars for a long time.

Reported - April 4, 2006 -  A neighbor in the Cider Lane cul-de-sac reported that a girl with blonde hair driving a Nissan Maxima or Altima (either black or dark green) was going through peoples' mailboxes. This happened between 1-3 p.m. on Monday 4/3.
If you can, I would strongly recommend you get your mail as soon as it comes. And if you see a girl with the above descriptions, CALL THE POLICE.

Reported - April 3, 2006 - A girl about 19-21 years of age came to a neighbor's door asking to use the phone. She said she was involved in a car wreck. The homeowner stepped out
of the room during the phone call. He came back in the room to find the
girl gone as well as some money taken out of his wallet!! She had blonde
hair, was average height and had a t-shirt with a fleece pullover and flip
flops. She was driving a green 2001 or 2002 Nissan Maxima or Altima.
THIS COULD BE A SCAM GOING AROUND!
Be aware of situation and take precaution as you answer the door.
